Our hotel stands on the remains of the historic Alhóndiga de los Genoveses, an 11th-century enclave that was a center of international trade in the heart of the Nasrid Kingdom. In the 11th century, this site witnessed the exchange of silks, spices, and exotic essences that defined the luxury of the Nasrid Kingdom.
Located next to the Great Mosque and the most important souks¿the Zacatín, the Alcaicería, and Calle Elvira¿the Alhóndiga became the epicenter of business and residence for the Genoese community, drawn by the exclusive glamour that only Granada could offer.
Today, we honor that legacy by integrating its archaeological remains into the hotel's contemporary experience. Before the hotel was built, a thorough archaeological excavation was carried out, allowing us to recover the original remains of the Alhóndiga.
Today, these foundations and walls form part of an archaeological gallery inside the hotel, a unique space where you can explore centuries of history.
